The future of greylisted strings

Hi, David and all,

I have few questions regarding the future of greylisted strings (quote: "For legacy reasons, a Moodle language pack may contain strings that are no longer used but have not yet been deleted. These strings are 'greylisted'. Once it has been confirmed that a greylisted string is no longer used, it is removed from the language pack.").

The language pack that I maintain (with a lot of help from my fellow contributors) has 276 greylisted missing strings, and 177 non-greylisted missing strings (that are going to be translated very soon).

When will the "culling" of those greylisted strings take place? 276 strings is almost 2% of total strings, a while I am not aiming at 100% translation at all costs, it would be nice to have a clean slate.

Should we translate them anyway, knowing that they will disappear any day now?

I am not expecting a definite date and time, guesstimate would be nice also. പുഞ്ചിരി

Hi Jasmin,

is ASAP enough precise date and time? പുഞ്ചിരി My suggestion would be not to spend a single minute on greylisted strings right now even though I can see your motivation of having ~100% translated.

Hi David,

yep, that's precise enough പുഞ്ചിരി Croatian translation team has translated everything that was not marked as greylisted, so we're now going to focus on QA... പുഞ്ചിരി

Hi David,

Just wondering about the calculation of percentage of language strings translated on http://download.moodle.org/langpack/2.0/. Could we exclude the number of greylisted strings (currently 2137) from the total number of strings, to make it possible to achieve 100% if all strings except greylisted ones have been translated?
