Hello,

I am new to using Moodle and I hope that this is the right place to ask my question. I was wondering if someone can tell me what the language packs do.  Do they only translate buttons and headings, or do they also translate my course content? I have a Moodle course that is currently in English, and I want to change the language of the course to Arabic. Would a language pack do this?  Also, can I use the language pack to make it so someone can respond in Arabic, but another user can see that response in English? Thanks.

Hello,

The language packs only translate the Graphical User Interface (GUI), i.e.: buttons, menus, labels, help messages and so on. You (and your pupils) are the solely responsible for the course content.

So, the language packs goal is not to translate content for you.

However, there is a built-in mechanism in Moodle (the multilanguage filter) that allows for content to be shown in various languages, depending on the user's settings. But I'm speaking about a static, pre-translated content.
