AMOS Translator now provides direct access to Google Translate services again. Clicking the small Google icon in the string original's cell fetches and displays the translation suggested by Google.

As you may know. Google has started to charge web sites for embedding their Translate services. For now, Moodle HQ pays for this service. AMOS users are kindly asked to not abuse this service and respect the fair use policy. Thank you.

If you can't see the Google icon, chances are that

  • either Google does not support translations from English to your language
  • or Google uses different code for the language than Moodle does

In both cases, please check the list of supported languages and their codes at https://developers.google.com/translate/v2/using_rest#language-params Do not hesitate to report any issue spotted while using this service.

So long, and thanks for all the strings!

Fair use is to use the Google Translate service whenever you need it, but not more often.

That means, if we realize that some users abuse the service provided, we will kindly discuss with them and will try to find a solution. Just that. So there are no limits apart from those lined by Google themselves. Just don't try to click those icons as fast as you can to see if Google blocks your IP sorriso That would not be considered a fair use.
