Yeah, that was my question, too. However, there seemed to be a serious demand for this...
I think it's really important mainly for people not translating regularly, but wanting to contribute, by updating some strings with errors, or proposing a better translation.
And, even if i understand english, i always find easier to read (and understand well) things thats are written in my native language
